Iwantja Arts Agency

Iwantja Arts supports a collective of studio artists working within the culturally rich and contemporary arts practice
The Project:

Iwantja Arts asked Web Prophets to design a new logo and website to represent a community of artists living and working in and around the Indulkana Community in far north eastern South Australia on the Anangu Pitjantjatjara Yankunytjatjara (APY) Lands 400km south of Alice Springs.

Iwantja Arts is a NFP, Aboriginal owned and run corporation. The art centre encourages artistic excellence and cultural development for its community by providing opportunities, training and career development for artists.

The Solution:

The new website needed to

1. Promote the work of over 45 artists

2. Promote the galleries that represent these artists within Australia and Internationally

3. Provide an online gallery and artowrk enquiry area

Web Prophets created and built a website that provides a space for Iwantja Arts to add Artists Profiles, Representing Galleries, an online galery for the sale of prints as well as a list of upcoming exhibitions.

The website has been designed to ensure that the artwork speaks first; with a clean design that accentuates the vibrancy of the art. Included within the site is a focu on 'call to action' links to encourage potential purchasers to enquire about specific artworks. Our feedback so far is that within a couple of weeks from launch this system working well; and sales have already started to come through - opening the world market for the Indulkana Community.

The website is built on Drupal 7 CMS AGOV framework and is designed so  that Iwantja Arts staff can easily update and manage the website themselves.

"Web Prophets worked with our Indigenous organisation Iwantja Arts, to create a dynamic and contemporary platform for sharing our art and culture on a global level. Our project was supported from start to completion with invaluable expertise and advice from friendly Web Prophet staff. As a non profit organisation, we appreciated the reduced costs, and were very pleased to be awarded a beautiful end product that fully captures the voice and personality of our remote art centre, our artists, and our passion for cultural contemporary art."
